Qualcomm announced its Snapdragon 835 chipset at the CES 2017 - packed with lots of promises that will address basic smartphone demands like better battery life, added security, and more powerful graphics performance.

The flagship chip from Qualcomm gives an awful lot of promise that it will significantly surpass the currently striving Snapdragon 820. Aside from its size being 35 percent smaller than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 835 focuses its improved performance in different categories, according to TechCrunch.

The Snapdragon 835 was designed to cater for the VR demands in the market. Also, since Windows 10 has been an emerging market for mobile platforms, the latest chip from Qualcomm should be able to run a full support for both Android and Windows.

It runs with a Kryo CPU architecture, the same one which is present with the Snapdragon 82X. However, the Snapdragon 835 will run with Kryo 280 which adds four more cores that will run up to 2.4GHz. The 35 percent smaller size promises 25 percent less battery consumption and more space for added battery power.

The graphics also received a significant boost, as the latest chip will flaunt an Adreno 540 GPU instead of the Adreno 530. With such power-packed graphics boost, Snapdragon 835 will cater to the demands of VR-supported platforms and devices. Aside from that, the chip will enable better performance when it comes to 4K recording, playback, and will be able to run camera lens with higher resolutions (up to 32 MP).

The Quick Charge 4.0 feature is also possible with the Snapdragon 835 since charging is expected to be 20 percent faster and 30 percent more efficient. It will also support LTE technology that will enable download speeds up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds up to 150Mbps. The Bluetooth 5.0 certification will flaunt a 2 Mbps transfer rate.

Security features such as fingerprint, iris scan, or even facial recognition can now be incorporated with the Snapdragon 835. Currently, the latest Qualcomm chip is undergoing mass production and is expected to be included in upcoming smart devices, according to GSM Arena.
