Qualcomm releases a new promotional ad for its Snapdragon chipset series on YouTube.

Qualcomm uploaded a new video ad over the weekend entitled 'Unsung Hero' to market its Snapdragon chipset series, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. Published on YouTube, the ad featured a computer-generated small "snapdragon" mascot that "likes to use his power for good."

The 30-second clip briefly advised prospective smartphone buyers to ensure that the device they will buy is powered by one of Qualcomm's chipsets. It promised that the "little dragon" is something users would want 24/7 and "the dragon you want in your phone."

It cannot be denied that the SoC manufacturing giant has existed ever since the early days of smartphones and has brought a number of devices to life over the past decade. Qualcomm's humble beginning initially started with the Snapdragon S1 that paved the way for its successors, the Snapdragon S2, S3, and S4.

In 2013, the chip maker shifted its focus, not only launching a new generation of chipset but also introducing a new name scheme, the Android Headlines reported. Since then, Qualcomm started powering millions of devices ranging from low-end ones with its Snapdragon 200-series and mid-range units with Snapdragon 200 and 600 to high-end and premium markets with the Snapdragon 800 lineup.

Although Qualcomm has been working backdoor, which is possibly the reason for the 'Unsung Hero' title, its products and equipment are unlikely to go unnoticed by customers.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm and China's Huaxintong Semiconductor Technology reportedly teamed up to develop a new ARM technology-based server chip. The technology is believed to be based on the Falkor CPU core used in Centriq 2400, which is the pioneering 48-cire and best ARM server chip yet.

The team up is "now busy developing a customized server CPU product based on our technology and designs for the China market," Derek Aberle, Qualcomm's president, said.
