AMD has set its standard high for its second generation Vega product, 14nm+ Vega 2.0, which is said to be released in 2018. For several months now, a lot of reports and speculations have truly energized a lot of people about the upcoming product developments of AMD.

As expected, AMD's new products are dubbed as competitors of whatever product NVIDIA will release. Seemingly, the new Vega products are said to be making their way to compete with NVIDIA, and AMD has already mapped out their product roll out update strategy for the next three or four years.

In can be recalled that after AMD's disastrous Radeon issue, the company has already learned its lesson, in which its success can be attributed to Polaris and Ryzen. Moreover, AMD's EPYC product has been successful in the market.

14nm+ Vega 2.0 Release Date

Although there is no confirmation as to the release date of 14nm+ Vega 2.0 processor, however, rumors are rife that its release is bound for 2018. AMD is working to make it a product that has higher clock speed, and better overall performance compared to other Vega products.

What To Expect From Vega 2.0

Based on AMD's leaked roadmaps released last year, Vega 2.0 will have twice the memory capacity of the Vega Frontier Edition (32GB) but the same 64 compute unit engine, all be it a slightly tweaked one, and an improved double precision compute throughput for HPC applications, WCCFTech reported.

Vega 2.0 vs. Volta

NVIDIA's track record over the past years has been very intense, and this might cause a problem for AMD. However, if Vega can pull off against NVIDIA's high-end today, there's no doubt that Vega 2.0 can compete with Volta in 2018.

In another news, AMD's Radeon Vega Gaming Cards will be more impressive, and faster and is expected to be released June 13.
