A Mississippi police officer had a selfie taken with a big bird on February 19, Friday after the station received a call that a large feathered creature was walking around the area. They later found the ostrich-like emu crossing the highway into a wooded area, and captured it near a fence.

Around noon on Friday the police department of Officer Cody Pruitt got the call. Pruitt explained that he was excited about the call because it would be an uncommon and fun experience if they found the bird.

Police officers found the emu near Highway 6, according to CNN. They caught the big bird when it was trapped against a barbed wire fence.

Emus are large flightless birds that belong to the same family of birds as ostriches. They are native to Australia.

Pruitt explained the large bird did not move as he approached it. After another officer arrived they used a rope to contain the emu until the animal control officers got there.  

Pruitt then snapped a selfie picture with the emu. The local police department posted the photo on Twitter with the hashtag #TheEmuWhisperer.

After the animal control officers arrived they had to get the help of horse trainers to handle the huge bird. They were then able to secure the emu.

The two groups of officers then transported the large bird to a nearby farm with emus. It has not been learned where the animal lived before.

Meanwhile, an 85-year-old Florida woman is still looking for her lost pet but has been inspired to help other cats at a local shelter. Fleur de Lys Healy looks for her pet cat once or twice each week at an Orange County animal shelter, according to Orlando Sentinel.

The retired school teacher looks in each cage to find her cream-colored kitty "Motor." Her feline ran away five years ago.

Healy hopes that she will find her pet cat Motor. The animal shelter workers call her Grandma and are inspired by her kindness to the kittens.

Healy has become a volunteer at the animal shelter. She tries to convince visitors to take a cat home with them.
