Mobile App Developers will now launch their own Cheetah Phone

Cheetah Mobile, a Beijing based app-developer, and Cubot, a Chinese electronics company, have announced the launch of their first co-branded smart phone - Cheetah Phone. Announcement was made at the recently held Mobile World Congress 2016 at Barcelona, Spain in Feb. 21.

Giz China mentions that Cheetah Phone will have a 5.5 inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. According to Phone Radar, Cheetah Phone shall be powered by 3GB of RAM and a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It shall feature a 13 MP primary camera and an 8 MP front camera.

According to numerous reports, the smartphone's specs fall in line with most mid-range smart phones launched these days. However, one specific thing that could set the new smartphone apart from others is its apps, which shall be designed by Cheetah Mobile.

Cheetah Mobile is widely known for its impressive array of apps which include Battery Doctor, Clean Master and Duba Anti-virus. Cheetah Mobile has more than 568 million active users as of November 2015 but Cubot is more well-known within China. Similar to Google Nexus, Cheetah Phone's software will be handled by Cheetah Mobile and its hardware shall be manufactured by Cubot.

It was reported that Cheetah Phone shall be available in gold, rose gold and space grey. It will be a Dual Sim phone with a very powerful 3050 mAH battery. It shall offer 10 GB of cloud space and an inbuilt storage of 32 GB with an option for expandable memory through a microSD card.

Phone Radar mentions that Cheetah Phone shall run on Google's Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, it shall additionally sport a personalized launcher and gallery app that comes with a Wi-Fi transfer feature. It was also reported that the device shall be priced at estimated$220 (around Rs.15,080) with pre-orders beginning from March 20 this year.
