Recently, Google pulled the Nexus 9 tablet off of its Google Store. This led many analysts to believe that the company is finally ditching the tablet for good. If this is true, this leaves the Nexus 7 and the Pixel C as Google's flagship tablet devices.

Regarding which company will build the upcoming 2016 Nexus 7 is still up for debate. Although there are rumors claiming that Google already tapped the service of Chinese tech giant Huawei to manufacture the tablet.

In terms of hardware specifications, rumors claim that the Nexus 7 will have a 7-inch display with 2560 x 1800 Quad HD resolution. Regarding its processor, there is a debate whether Google will pick the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or the Nvidia Tegra X1 processor, according to PC Advisor. While both processors are equally good in their own rights, there are slight differences between the two which many tech analysts believe are not a big deal.

The 2016 Nexus 7 is rumored to sport 4GB of internal memory, a specification which has become quite a trend especially in high-end and premium devices. It is also believed that the tablet will have a 3000mAh battery pack. Storage space can be expanded to as much as 2TB via microSD.

According to Droid Life, there are also rumors claiming that the 2016 Nexus 7 will have a feature that is similar to the Apple Force Touch. While many tech experts believe that the tablet will have a lot of similarities with the Pixel C, the Nexus 7 will retain its budget friendly price tag.

The 2016 Google I/O Developers Conference will run from May 18 to 20. The conference will be held at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California.
