Sony Electronics recently introduced its new flagship A-mount camera, the a99 II, designed to cater to the needs of professional photographers and photography enthusiasts.

The device was unveiled to the public on Monday. Sony says the camera is packed with many of its latest digital imaging technologies, crammed inside its slick DSLR-style body, according to The Verge. The a99 II uses interchangeable lens, and boasts of a full-frame, high-resolution 42.4-megapixel CMOS sensor that allows for quick shots.

The new camera utilizes Sony's Hybrid Phase Detection Autofocus system that has 79 cross and 399 supplemental points, as well as the A-mount exclusive Translucent Mirror Technology, making for a professional level camera that will catch the eyes of pros, including sport and wildlife photographers.

Sony claims that the new camera can track quickly moving objects, and will perform well even in low light conditions. The company has revealed that the a99 II can take up to 12 shots per second, and all of these shots can be viewed immediately, even if the camera is set in high-speed continuous shooting mode.

The a99 II is fitted with Sony's new 5 axis image stabilization system, which ensures that all its shots are crisp and blur-free. It is also able to record 4K video internally

Neal Manowitz, vice president of Digital Imaging of Sony Electronics, said in a press release that the company is continuous is its quest to innovate new and appealing cameras, lenses, and accessories in the Sony A-line.

"With the α99 II, we're delivering an industry-leading level of performance to A-mount owners and enthusiasts," Manowitz said. " Its powerful combination of speed and resolution is simply unmatched in today's market."

The Verge notes that if the new a99 II is as good as Sony says, other pro camera makers will have a run for their money. The new Sony a99 II mirrorless camera will be shipped to North American territories in November and will be sold for about $3,200.
