‘The Witcher 3’ Among Nominated For GDC 2016 Awards, Leaked Enhanced Edition Not Happening

"The Witcher 3" has not only brought fans a fairly huge amount of great gameplay. Now, it has also proven its power for developer CD Projekt Red as it spearheads the nominees for the upcoming Game Developers Conference 2016.

The nominations for the events' awarding have been released, and "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is up there among the other well-known games, DualShockers reported. There are a total of five Game of the Year nominees. Apart from CD Projekt Red's title, the other contenders include "Fallout 4" from Bethesda, "Metal Gear Solid V" from Kojima Productions and Konami, FromSoftware's "Bloodborne" and Psyonix's "Rocket League."

It is also among the nominees for Best Visual Art, Best Narrative and Best Technology. "The Witcher 3" is also included as an honorable mention for Best Design and Best Audio.

The actual awarding will take place at the GDC 2016 event, happening on March 16 in San Francisco California. The event is also available for livestream via Twitch for those who can't go to the event personally.

The GDC 2016 also recognizes other games that had made waves in 2015. Among these are "Fallout 4," "Splatoon," "Ori and the Blind Forest," "Her Story" and "Super Mario Maker," among others. These titles have enjoyed nominations and honorable mentions for a various categories in the GDC 2016 Awards.

For fans who have been excited by a recent sighting for an Enhanced Edition of "The Witcher 3" are in for a disappointment. CD Projekt Red has already confirmed that the listing was an error of sorts, as the developer is not creating anything of the sort. The team has reached out to IGN, confirming that whatever the Enhanced Edition via a French retailer was an error listing.

Previously, the listing was spotted for all three platforms, the PS4, the Xbox One and the PC. There was even a release date of Feb. 5 via SmartToys online retailer.

The one thing that fans can look forward to for "The Witcher 3," however, is the arrival of the upcoming expansion, Blood and Wine. CD Projekt Red has not yet given specific details such as the release date of the DLC, but it has promised that more will come in 2016. The expansion is expected to cap off the story of Geralt and his travels in "The Witcher 3."
