Just like the first "Nier" game, players can get multiple "Nier: Automata" endings as well. However, they are cautioned that it may be necessary for them to sacrifice their save files to reach the "ultimate" ending. Here is a quick guide on how to get all of the game's major endings specifically the true one.

There are five main endings in "Nier: Automata," according to Xtra Naughty Gaming's video. The five endings are named after alphabet letters, A, B, C, D, and E. Players need to replay the game and use up each possible choice to obtain each of the game's ending. The former "Nier" game also encouraged its players to replay the game to attain a different progression in each playthrough. Lastly, players will have to try each available option until they can find the ending that they can't turn back from.

"A" and "B" Endings

2B wins against Eve In ending A and B, and concludes that the mission has finally ended. However, 9S is shown to be infected with a virus that kills him. He is somehow not permitted to transfer his data back to Bunker for him to respawn. 2B then kills 9S afterwards. But then, the ending shows that there are active machines remaining that may need to be eliminated. But IT is eventually revealed that 9S has successfully placed his own data through the machines. Players need to play either 9S or 2B to trigger these endings.

"C" and "D" Endings

9S is seen angrily explaining the uselesness of the YoRHa unit's mission to A2. But then A2 says that 9S, in fact, knew what was going on all this time which makes 9S angrier. Finally, the player is left to choose to side with A2 to stop 9S or pick 9S to avenge 2B's death. Players have to play as A2 in this fight to trigger ending C while players have to choose as 9S to finish the fight to trigger ending D, The Bitbag writes.

True Ending "E"

Finally, ending C is expected to be the "true" ending out of all the "Nier: Automata" endings. It is considered as the ultimate ending due to its exclusive outcome although there is an extreme genre switch in this game's path. Players will have to risk their entire progress and save file to get access of this ending.
