Nintendo World was the company's flagship store in New York City that was closed last month, redesigned, and reopened as Nintendo NY. The new store is not only a place to buy Nintendo gear and other official products but is intended to represent the world's largest video game company.

Regional Manager PJ Sadler told Engadget that Nintendo's racetrack logo represents the company's high-level of quality. It has tried to represent that motif throughout the entire NYC store.

NY Nintendo includes a new layout, lighting, and exhibits, according to Engadget. The Japan-based company consulted the New York architectural firm Gensler for many of its design decisions.

Visitors to Nintendo New York can quickly notice some of the changes. They include the cash registers being moved and the upstairs bay being removed, to help to open up space and make future changes easier.

For example, display cases are now on wheels so they can be rolled around to free up space for events. The first big event featuring the new design will be next month's Pokkén Tournament regional finals.       

Meanwhile, the gaming museum on the second floor of the flagship store will remain. Every few months items will be replaced based on the game Nintendo is promoting at that time.

The current exhibit includes pictures of Nintendo gaming systems over the years. They include a Super Nintendo console and Virtual Boy.

There is also a display case of handheld systems. The items in the clear glass cases range from LCD Game & Watch units to today's 3DS XL.

Some of the items in the gallery are from Nintendo archives. However, most of the exhibits are from the flagship store's employees.

Some features of the store have not changed. They include the same front doors as when it was Pokemon Center NY, and metal Mario characters above the elevator.   

Mario remains a major part of Nintendo NY. Symbols include statues of Mario and Luigi near the staircase, and the Super Mario Bros. characters participating in the store's ribbon-cutting ceremony.    

The next big Mario game could be a Super Mario Galaxy sequel. However, a Nintendo creator has suggested it might be released after the Nintendo NX gaming console is launched, according to Tech Radar.
