A lot of gamers are excited about virtual reality, and there are several VR headsets available in the market now like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. However, both devices are expensive especially with the required computer hardware. Alternatively, there are cheaper headsets for mobile devices such as the Samsung Gear VR which costs $99 USD and the Google Daydream View VR which is priced at $79 USD.

According to Digital Trends, the Daydream View VR is made of soft fabric which can be bent easily. The Samsung Gear VR, on the other hand, is made of plastic with a matte finish.

Both devices come with removable face masks for better hygiene. In terms of weight, the Gear VR weighs 318 grams with sensors that detect movement and promote fewer delays. Meanwhile, the Daydream View VR weighs 220 grams which offer a more natural experience.

However, it can feel heavier with a phone on it. "Compared to the PlayStation VR's headband design, the Daydream headset felt heavy strapped to my face with a smartphone inside it. Even though it's one of the lightest headsets available, it still took a few seconds to adjust to the weight pulling my face forward," said Jeff Parsons of the Mirror.

The main controls of the Gear VR are in the headset such as the focus adjustment wheel, trackpad, volume buttons, and back button. The Daydream View, on the other hand, has a directional pad and nine motion sensors. It comes with a controller with volume buttons, home button, and additional buttons for developers to configure their apps. It is very similar to a Wii controller and has a built-in USB Type-C port for charging.

The Daydream View VR is compatible only with Pixel phones at the moment while the Gear VR is compatible with the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Note 5, S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+.
