American multinational technology company Apple is going to start producing its wireless Bluetooth earphones AirPods in the Czech Republic in December.

The AirPod was unveiled in September with a rather odd design. Apple's wireless earphones can be connected to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which lack audio jacks, using the company's new W1 chip for instant pairing and easy switching between iCloud devices.

The AirPod was originally set to be released in late October. However, Apple delayed the release because it needed to ensure that the wireless earphone is ready for customers. It is priced at $159 (£159 or AU$229). This is just $10 more than the upcoming BeatsX Bluetooth earbuds which connect via a neckband and also the W1 chip.

There are other headphones which take advantage of the W1 chip from Apple that are currently on the market. These include the Beats Solo3 as well as the Beats Powerbeats3.

Apple's AirPod promises to deliver up to five hours of battery life on a single charge. It will be supplied backup power through a rechargeable carrying case that provides up to 24 hours of extra battery life. The AirPod can last for up to three hours after being charged for just 15 minutes. It works over Bluetooth.

The initial production of the AirPods will be small. A total of 10 million to 15 million units are expected to be made.

Alza, an official Czech Apple retailer, has updated its AirPod listing. The wireless earphone would go into production in December and will be available for purchase early in 2017.
