Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact Release Date And Price For US Officially Declared

The Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact release date and pricing in the US were officially announced by Sony.

The Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact will be available for purchase from Feb. 7. Both the smartphones will be sold in unlocked editions. The unlocked Xperia Z5 will be priced at $699 whereas the unlocked Xperia Z5 Compact will carry a price tag of $599. Amazon, Best Buy and B&H retailers in the U.S. will begin selling the smartphones from the aforementioned date, Sony revealed through its official Facebook page.

Currently, none of the U.S. carriers have confirmed on selling the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact smartphones. Since these will be sold as unlocked smartphones in the U.S., only GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile will support them. CDMA service providers like Verizon Wireless and Sprint will not be supporting Z5 smartphones.

Even Sony will begin the official sales of the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact from Feb. 7. Both the smartphones have been available in the U.S. for purchase. However, since they were sold as international editions, they do not carry US warranty. However, the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact that will be up on sales from next month in the U.S. will be available with a US warranty, Phone Arena reported.

The Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are powered by the same Snapdragon 810 SoC. However, both feature different capacities of RAM. The Xperia Z5 comes with 3 GB of RAM whereas the Xperia Z5 Compact features 2 GB of RAM.

Both smartphones have 23MP rear camera that can support fast autofocus as well as UltraHD video recording. The chassis of both the devices are resistant to dust and water contact.

The Xperia Z5 has a bigger display of 5.2 inches that carries support for full HD resolution. It is equipped with a 2900 mAh battery. On the other hand, the Xperia Z5 Compact has a 4.6-inch HD display and it features a 2700 mAh battery.

Sony has also revealed a premium version of Z5 called Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. It is only smartphone in the world to come with UltraHD resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels that offers a pixel count of 808 ppi. In the U.S., it is available for $750.
