LG G5, V10 and G4 to Receive Android Nougat Update in February 2017

Android 7.0 Nougat has been around for months already. However, only a few devices have received the update. LG is reportedly planning to update its G5, V10 and G4 smartphone models with the latest Android operating system by Feb. 2017.

The new version of the Android operating system will include a multi-window view option and virtual reality mode. Battery performance is also expected to improve with Doze battery saver.

"Now you can switch between apps with a double tap, and run two apps side by side. So go ahead and watch a movie while texting, or read a recipe with your timer open. Vulkan API is a game changer with high performance 3D graphics. On supported devices, see apps leap to life with sharper graphics and eye candy effects," Android said. The operating system will also have better encryption to ensure the security of users.

Meanwhile, South Korean LG G5 users are lucky as they have received the Android 7.0 Nougat. The update will take weeks to months to get to users who bought their smartphones from other regions or via carriers since carriers adopt a different approval process. The model powered by Snapdragon 820 with 4GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage was released on Oct. 28. 

LG announced that Korean already users are enjoying the latest version through their G5 and V20 handsets, and the update will arrive in the United States and other Asian regions soon. The LG V20 is the first smartphone to get the operating system even before the Google's Pixel and Pixel XL.
