Some iPhone 6S units may be experiencing some technical difficulties that cause the devices to unexpectedly shut down. However, iPhone 6S users should not worry as the affected devices seem to be few. Apple has announced that affected devices which were manufactured between September and October of 2015 are eligible for a free battery replacement.
This global repair order comes days after Apple announced a repair program offer for the iPhone 6S Plus due to a screen issue. The problem was first announced by Chinese iPhone users who complained that their devices kept shutting down even if they still had a battery in them.
The program is applicable worldwide, and iPhone owners may go to any authorized Apple service centers to see if their devices are part of those affected. The serial number of the device would be verified to see if it is part of the repair offer program.
However, users are advised to backup their iPhone 6S devices, erase their settings, and switch the Find my iPhone setting off. Also, iPhone users are suggested to check their devices for chips, cracks, dents, and damages to the screen or body.
Any damage found will not be part of the battery replacement program so owners may be charged for the repairs. Repairing physical damage at an authorized Apple store would cost more than at the average repair shop.
If a user has paid for a battery replacement, but their device was made during the designated manufacturing period of September to October 2015, they would be able to receive a refund for their purchase.
