Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, since its launch, is facing problems including stability issues and noisy low light image distortions. Microsoft has been receiving numerous reviews regarding the instability in Windows 10 mobile. The earlier version of firmware posed user interface problems and inconsistent app performances. Features from previous versions of Windows were unavailable such as Office 365 features, including draft email as well as task syncing. The design of the software felt inconsistent and unfinished.
It seems Microsoft has finally acknowledged these issues in its latest firmware update. With the Universal app concept that Microsoft is planning to adopt for its major platforms, such as Windows 10 and Windows 10 mobile, the new update seems one step closer to its future plans.
This update version is 01078.00027.15506.02005 with hardware revision 4.0.3.1. Major performance and stability improvements have been made for switching over apps and home screen interface. Improvements for automatic brightness adoption and display issues were sorted. Low-light performance of the camera producing noisy images and the stripes showing up while playing recorded 4K videos were fixed. Fixes for SD card support were also made.
Getting past all the aesthetics which were less inspiring, Lumia 950 XL powered by Snapdragon 810 processor and backed by 3 GB of RAM comes quiet handy with all its specs. The flagship Lumia includes 5.7 inch Quad HD AMOLED display at 518ppi and ClearBlack technology. The processor is liquid cooled and houses 4x2.05GHz Cortex-A57and 4x 1.5GHz Cortex A53 and Adreno 430 GPU. It also sports a 20 megapixel BSI PureVIew camera sensor with Ziess optics and OIS supporting 4k video recording.
With the new update, the firmware is expected to provide better UI and more efficient hardware compatibility. Microsoft, as a part of implementing the universal software platform for desktops PC's and smartphones, can be expected to make future updates for this integrated experience.
