The new Android 7.0 Nougat has been rolled out to HTC 10 smartphones. HTC announced that the Nougat update was rolled out to all unlocked version of the device.
The Android Nougat update was released on Friday. HTC Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi confirmed the news in a tweet, "Happy Thanksgiving! HTC 10 unlocked owners will receive Nougat OS update tomorrow morning! Enjoy!"
The HTC 10 is one of the first few phone models to receive the Android Nougat update. Since the operating system was launched alongside Google's flagship device, the Pixel, only two handsets have received the update; the LG V20, and the LG G5.
On the other hand, major Android smartphone maker Samsung has announced that it is running a beta program for its Galaxy S7 line of devices to ensure a smooth rollout of the new Android update, according to CNet.
HTC 10 devices will receive Android Nougat version 2.28.617.8 which is around 1GB in size. HTC said that only the unlocked version of the HTC 10 would receive the Nougat update. Moreover, the update will be released first in the United States.
HTC is yet to confirm whether the Android Nougat update will find its ways to network-locked versions of its flagship smartphone, according to GameNGuide. The company is yet to confirm as well whether it will roll out the update in regions outside of the United States.
The Android Nougat update brings a handful of nifty features for supported devices. Two of the most talked about features are the Google Assistant and Instant Apps.
