Volvo has gone beyond the usual marketing stunt to show off the engineering brilliance behind its line of Volvo Trucks. Volvo Trucks have proved why its Iron Knight model is the fastest truck in the world.

In a video shared by Volvo, the Iron Knight truck was pitted against the winner of the 2016 FIA World Touring Car Championship, the Volvo S60 Polestar TC1. The two titans went head-to-head in a quarter-mile drag race and single-lap dash.

The Volvo Iron Knight is an FH-series truck. According to Motor Authority, it has 2,400 horsepower and weights almost 10,000 pounds. The Iron Knight holds the truck record for fastest acceleration on distances of 500- and 1000-meters. The truck completed the 500-meter track in 13.71 seconds, and the 1000-meter track in 21.29 seconds. Volvo claims that the truck can accelerate from zero to 62mph in just 4.6 seconds.

On the other hand, the S60 Polestar TC1 has a turbocharged 1.6-liter four cylinder engine capable of outputting 400 horsepower, and the car just weighs 2,425 pounds. The car can go from zero to 62mph in the same time as the Iron Knight truck, according to The Drive.

The first challenge was a drag race over a quarter mile distance. The challenge took place at the Mantorp Park racing circuit in Sweden. Driving the Iron Knight was truck racing champion Oije Ovebrink, and at the wheel of the S60 Polestar was veteran race driver Thed Bjork. The Iron Knight closely won the drag race challenge besting the S60 Polestar by less than a second.

The second challenge was a 1.95-mile road course circuit, the kind of circuit that the S60 Polestar TC1 was made for which is why the organizers of the race allowed gave the Iron Knight a head start. As expected, the S60 Polestar TC1 won the circuit race.
