Following the release of Nvidia's new line of GTX graphics processing units, hardware manufacturers have started to incorporate these graphics cards into their laptops. The latest to join the fray is Dell which recently announced a new Inspiron gaming laptop that has a GTX 1050 lurking underneath.
Dell officially announced two new models that will join its growing Inspiron 7000 gaming laptops. The new Inspiron 7000 laptops come in 14-inch or 15-inch variants with the high-end model sporting up to 4K resolution.
The 14-inch model has a standard anti-glare LCD with 1080p resolution, while the 15-inch model comes with either a 1080p screen or a 4K IPS display, according to The Verge.
In terms of processor choice, buyers can choose from either a seventh-generation Intel i5 7300HQ or Intel i7 7700HQ quad-core processors. Both models support up to 32GB of memory. As for storage option, the base model has a 500GB 5400RPM hard drive which can be upgraded to an SSD.
For gaming laptops, one of the most important factors is the graphics card. The new Inspiron 7000 gaming laptops can be configured to house either the Nvidia GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 Ti graphics cards.
The smaller of the two new Inspiron laptops has a 56Wh battery pack, while the bigger model sports a 74Wh battery, according to Neowin. Both models are available in two colors: matte black or red.
These two new laptops are based on previous generation models. This means that neither of the two have USB Type-C ports. In terms of pricing, the base model of the new Nvidia 7000 series starts at $799. Both models will be available starting Jan. 5.
Aside from these two upgraded Inspiron gaming laptops, Dell also announced that it is releasing an upgraded version of its Alienware models. The new Alienware models can be configured to have a seventh-generation Intel processor and a Nvidia GTX 1080 mobile graphics card.
