During the CES 2017, an Apple Watch band was unveiled which has the ability to measure the alcohol level of the wearer in real-time. The BACtrack Skyn band works like a breathalyzer.

The wristband works by detecting the alcohol content of a person's blood. The creators of BACtrack Skyn claim that the device works "passively, accurately, and near real-time," according to AppleInsider.

There are differences in how the body metabolizes alcohol, and this affects a person's tolerance to it. The BACtrack Skyn measures blood alcohol level while working as the skin's "breathalyzer." A user can set an alarm by means of sound or vibration to receive a notification if he or she is reaching the alcohol limits.

The device has a range of sensors that will detect small amounts of alcohol released from the skin. The creators of the device worked with medical professionals to create an algorithm that will make complex computations of utmost accuracy to reflect precise results that can be seen in real-time. The results are interpreted into a graph showing the BAC content.

The data output can be gathered, stored, and analyzed in line with Apple Healthkit.

The band can be used even without an Apple Watch. However, it needs to be synchronized with an iPhone or iPad. The band is expected to cost $99. It will be released in the latter part of this year.
