Nintendo's upcoming hybrid gaming console is approaching its reported launch date in March 2017. Consumers can now pre-order the device.
The Nintendo World Store located in New York City recently announced that the Nintendo Switch would be available for pre-order on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 by 9:00 a.m. ET.
Nintendo is also set to kick off its North American tour across six different cities. This will give customers a chance to try out the game system ahead of its release in March. The tour will start in New York on Jan. 13 to 15, and then it would move to Toronto on Jan. 27-29. Washington, D.C. would host the event on Feb. 10-12, Chicago on Feb. 17-19, then San Francisco on Feb. 24-26. Finally, the tour would end in Los Angeles on March 3-5.
At each stop, the first two days will be by invite-only. However, each Sunday, the public will be allowed to attend, but it will be on a first-come, first-served routine. The venue space is reportedly very limited, according to Nintendo. The event area will supposedly have different sections showcasing the different configurations of the gaming console.
Engadget reported that Nintendo was blamed for generating false shortages of the Wii console back in 2006. During the holiday period last year, their retro game console the NES Classic Edition failed to secure enough stocks for customers. Sources suspect that the Nintendo Switch could also face the same predicament.
