The Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier smartwatches have been released in India for the price tag of $418.35 (around Rs. 28,500). The devices will be available starting Jan. 18.

Both the Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier were launched at the IFA 2016 event in Berlin with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. They are successors to the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic models.

There are differences between Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier. One of which is their connectivity options. The Gear S3 Frontier comes with 4G capability. On the other hand, the Gear S3 Classic comes with Bluetooth connectivity and is five grams lighter.

The Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier have features like a barometer, altimeter, speedometer, always on display, and a battery that can last for up to four days. It can also survive 5-feet deep in water for around 30 minutes and can track six types of exercises and sync it with S Health app.

The Gear S3 has a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, a pixel density of 278 ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ protection from scratches. It runs on Samsung's Tizen-based wearable platform rather than Android Wear on board.

The Gear S3 is powered by a dual-core Exynos chipset clocked at a speed of 1.2 GHz out of the box. It comes with 4GB of internal storage and can be used to stream music to Bluetooth headset.

The Gear S3 can be used to receive and make calls, check voice messages, and hear alarms with built-in speakers in it. It also supports Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communications (NFC) payment technologies as well as Samsung Pay.

Users can download apps for the Gear S3 from the Gear app store. The store has over 10,000 apps such as Goal+, Here, Uber, Spotify, Yelp, and Glympse.
