Microsoft is reportedly working on a new Game Mode feature for the Windows 10 operating system. The new mode will provide a streamlined and enhanced gaming experience without putting too much stress on the system. The new Game Mode feature is expected to be integrated on the Windows 10 Creators Update slated to arrive later this year.
Microsoft is reportedly also working on a new Arena feature for the Xbox Live, a platform which will make it easier for gamers to join or create tournaments for games like "World of Tanks" and "Killer Instinct," according to Engadget. This feature will most likely appeal to the growing eSports crowd.
Last year, Microsoft acquired Beam, a live video streaming platform which focuses on gaming. The platform provides incisive playthrough videos as well as live gaming sessions.
In a statement posted on its official website, Xbox head of platform engineering Mike Ybarra wrote, "We're building Beam as a feature of Xbox One and Windows 10, making Beam one of the easiest and quickest ways to stream your gameplay."
Built-in Beam features is one of the major upgrades that Microsoft has been touting for in the past few weeks. With Beam, gamers can have easy access to game recording and music control features. An Achievement tracking overlay is also expected to be added, as well as overhauled user interface for the Gamerscore leaderboard and Cortana.
Both the Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms are also slated to receive Xbox Line updates that will make it easier for gamers to connect with their friends through social media. An upgraded and more social media-oriented Activity Feed will be added, as well as new tools for a more streamlined experience with Clubs.
Microsoft is yet to officially confirm the official release date of the Windows 10 Creators Update.
