The unlocked HTC One A9 smartphone has received the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system update in the United States.
Mo Versi, the vice president of HTC's product management, announced on social media that the unlocked HTC One A9 has started receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update from Jan. 17, Monday.
Every Android update has been passed on to the smartphone within 15 days of Nexus smartphones receiving it. This update brings multi-window support, improved battery life, performance enhancements, and changes to notifications, among other new features.
The HTC One A9 has a 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch, 16M colors, a screen-to-body-ratio of 66.8 percent, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection with HTC Sense. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box that can be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat.
The HTC One A9 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 chipset coupled with Adreno 405 graphics processing unit on board. It comes in two storage variants: one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage and another with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory. The storage can be further extended up to a maximum of 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.
The HTC One A9 features a 13-megapixel camera at the back with dual-LED dual-tone flash, autofocus, optical image stabilization, and an aperture of f/2.0. It also comes with a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with high-definition resolution and an aperture of f/2.0. Both cameras can record 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.
The HTC One A9 is a nano-SIM handset with NFC for payments only. Other connectivity options are Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and micro USB v2.0 port. Sensors include the front-mounted fingerprint scanner, gyroscope, compass, accelerometer, and proximity sensor.
The HTC One A9 measures 145.8 x 70.8 x 7.3 mm in dimension with a weight of 143 grams. It is also packed with a 2150 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery that can give up to 16 hours of talk time, up to 60 hours during music play, and up to 432 hours on standby mode.
The HTC One A9 is available in pink, opal silver, deep garnet, carbon gray, and topaz gold color.
