According to the announcement made in a press release by Activision, publisher of "Call of Duty" series, the series has reached a historical landmark reiterating once again that it is the best seller game of all times.
The news is that, "Call of Duty" series has achieved lifetime sales of over 250 million units since it was introduced in 2003. The announcement comes as a response to the data released by NPD Group, showing that the series has topped the NPD charts for the seventh consecutive time.
According to confirmed news, "Call of Duty" series has been one of the top selling and heaviest hitting titles, consistently for over 10 years. Recent data from NPD revealed that the latest title of the series "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" was declared as the best selling title not only in December, but also as a whole in the year 2015.
A full statement was made by Rob Kostich, general manager and senior vice president of Activision, on the latest milestone reached by the series. In his statement, Kostich conveyed his thanks to the development teams for creating amazing experiences, and to the "Call of Duty" community for their incredible passion. He added that without them, it would not have been possible to reach this milestone. He also congratulated Treyarch for creating an enormous and incredibly engaging fun game, referring to "Black Ops III."
He also said that the company is looking forward to what is in store for 2016, confirming that "Call of Duty" has been the top selling franchise in North America. "Call of Duty: Black Ops III," the latest title of the series, is now available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, PS 3 and PS 4. So far, the whole community of online games has acknowledged the achievement made by the Call of Duty series.
