The first and the great "Solar Eclipse" is coming to pass across America on August 21, 2017. The eclipse will move along the states of Oregon and North Carolina. This total solar eclipse is the first in the 21st century. Seven years into the future, another total eclipse is sure to hit America in 2024 but will follow a different path.
The 2017 total "Solar Eclipse" will happen as the moon passes before the sun. In a report by Eclipse2017, astronomers are expecting the moon's shadow to move across the North Pacific Ocean at 16:48:33 UTC. The eclipse will happen as computed with precise accuracy that at the location, the rising Sun will be totally eclipsed by the moon. About a minute after, the umbral cone or entire shadow will race across the ocean's surface with supersonic speed.
Meanwhile, according to Space, the succeeding total "Solar Eclipse" in 2024 will move across the American continent in a completely different path. The moon shadow will appear in Mexico, Texas, some areas of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia and Maine. Also, other parts of Canada will experience the total solar eclipse.
Additionally, the "Solar Eclipse" as predicted will have the Greatest Duration (GD) of 2 minutes and 40.2 seconds as reported by Eclipse. Watchers can enjoy the totality of the eclipse within a fraction of second even if hundreds of miles from the point of the theoretical GD. The computations of the Total Solar Eclipse on August 21, were derived with the use of the JPL DE405 solar and lunar ephemerides.
