The upcoming Windows 10 update comes with the highly anticipated Game Mode, Microsoft explains what it's trying to achieve.
When Windows 10 game mode was announced, consumers were as curious as they're skeptical on what it actually does. Microsoft's recent update sheds some light on how exactly does this mode enhances PC gaming. Game mode aims to improve gaming performance by increasing framerate ,according to a report from GameSpot. Microsoft explained that this performance boost comes in two forms.
Maximizing PC gaming to its full potential
The first form of performance enhancement Game Mode targets is the increase in overall framerate. Its second form of gaming enhancement is the increase of average framerate.
That means achieving a stable and consistent framerate all throughout the gaming experience. Game Mode achieves this by distributing your computers CPU and GPU capabilities to the currently running game. Of course, this means that all the processes in the background are given less attention by the CPU.
When game mode is enabled, games will certainly be the computer's number one priority. There will even be an area in the system settings that's specifically dedicated to gaming.
Testing starts soon but it's not guaranteed to work on every game
Windows 10 Game Mode will be include in Microsoft's Creator's update. The update features testing starts tomorrow, accroding to Engadget. Game Mode sounds promising, but it's uncertain if it will deliver on its promises. After all, Microsoft did not guarantee that all game's will be granted a performance boost.
