Similar to the OnePlus 3, the OnePlus 3T comes with the Dash charge feature that enhances the charging capabilities of the phone. This puts it up against the Google Pixel XL which also comes with a superior fast charging support.
The Dash charge is pitted against the Google Pixel XL's USB-C Power Delivery. OnePlus posted a video on YouTube with a caption that says, "Can Dash Charge deliver a day's power in half an hour during our commute? The Dash Car Charger races against the Google Pixel's Fast Charging technology on our way to work!" OnePlus claims that the actual charging time could vary depending on numerous factors like usage while charging, smartphone configuration, power source, and settings.
While the Google Pixel and Pixel XL have fast charging support, they do not support wireless charging. The Pixel XL is capable of split-screen windows and battery-saving Doze mode. The phone is compatible with the Daydream View VR headset and has a 3,450 mAh battery.
The video shows that the Google Pixel XL was connected to the USB-C Belkin 27W car charger while the OnePlus 3T was connected to its Dash car charger. It must be noted that the OnePlus 3T comes with 3400 mAh battery whereas the Google Pixel XL boasts of a 3,450 mAh capacity battery. The batteries were simultaneously charged for 30 minutes while Google Maps was being used. After 30 minutes, the Google Pixel XL was charged for 19 percent while the OnePlus 3T was 57 percent charged.
This could be due to Dash charge's capacity to convert voltage in the adapter and minimize heat which builds up gradually when charging. The navigation process also needs a specific amount of power. The heat in the Pixel XL builds up as it is not being converted and this throttles the speed of charging while trying to normalize the temperature. The OnePlus 3T's internal cable is also made of copper and nickel which makes charging faster without heating up the device or wire.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL cameras have electronic image stabilization (EIS) and not OIS. The Google Pixel houses a 12 megapixels rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an eight megapixel selfie snapper with f/2.4 aperture. Google is targeting photographers with the new Pixel phones and to replace the Apple iPhone camera which is currently the most used snapper on image hosting website Flickr.
The Google Pixel XL is the bigger variant of the new "Made by Google" phone line. HTC manufactured the phones, but Google says that it developed the phone from the design to its final finishes. The Pixel XL comes with a glass and aluminum build which looks like the HTC A9. It features a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution. It also comes with the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box.
The Google Pixel also only comes with IP53 ratings which mean the phones cannot survive any water submersion. Most flagship phones are now dust and water resistant and the Pixels do not bode well with this area. According to USTechPortal, other cons include its single SIM and non-removable battery feature. The Pixel handsets also have only one speaker.
