Nintendo is keeping its silence on the company's plans concerning the rumored Nintendo NX gaming machine. The Japanese game-maker, however, hinted anew that the device on release date will be remotely different from the Wii U console.
Nintendo also withheld information on when actually the NX will arrive, refusing to comment on speculations that the device will touchdown anytime in the second half of 2016. But Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima, according to MCV, has indicated in a recent statement that juicy details on the device will be revealed soon.
MCV said on its report that an update on the ongoing NX development could be issued in time with the E3 2016. But on the question of the device's unpacking, Kimishima opted to skip on the details.
The company, however, allowed that the Nintendo NX is not to be confused as a gaming machine that will eventually bump off the Wii U. The new device is "something that is based on an entirely new idea," Kimishima said as reported by BGR.
The statement aligns with an earlier declaration by Nintendo that the NX will be a fresh concept of a gaming machine that will not replace the company's Wii U console or the 3DS handheld. Nintendo also did comment on the persistent rumors that the NX on boxing will be a hybrid gaming that will fuse the key Wii U and 3DS functions.
Blog reports have been saying that the NX will consist of two units - the main component serves as the console while the remote controller acts as the handheld with likely stand-alone features and functionalities. To date, Nintendo neither confirmed nor denied these circulating stories.
Yet in the report issued by Kimishima last week and first published by Japanese publication Mainichi Shimbun, the company affirmed the reports that it will soon enter the mobile gaming business with immediate plans of releasing smartphone and tablet game apps that are based on iconic Nintendo game characters.
By the end of 2016, Nintendo would have released a number of smartphone games that will be familiar to gamers worldwide, Kimishima said. The upcoming game titles are expected to feature Mario, Donkey Kong and other classic Nintendo characters.
Nintendo is looking to generate profits of around 100 billion yen or roughly $800 million in the next few years following the issuance of the smartphone game apps and the Nintendo NX release date.
