ZTE's latest smartwatch will be known ZTE Quartz, joining other companies such as LG and Google to have smartwatches in line.
ZTE Quartz images were spotted online from the prolific Twitter leaker Evan Blass, displaying that the Chinese company is indeed reading a smartwatch. The leaked photo of the circular smartwatch does not come with too many details regarding its specs. However, Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has ZTE Quartz on its listing.
According to the Bluetooth listing, ZTE Quartz is getting its Bluetooth certification under the model number ZW10. The metal chassis appearances are quite similar with the Huawei Watch, just with an overall thicker and bigger design. In the leaked images, the watch does look very nice that offers a stylish yet somewhat sporty design.
For the design of the smartwatch, it has a circular-style display with rubber stripe that can be changed. It is possible that ZTE will launch a couple of different color stripes that will match with the smartwatch. The listing also said that it will support the latest Android Wear 2.0 version, which Google has launched this week.
The ZTE Quartz is said to come with Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity too. With these features, it will allow users to access data even when it is not paired to a smartphone with the option to take and make calls. ZTE may likely include features such as heart rate monitor and NFC for Android Pay. As for the price and availability, there are no details yet.
Various reports said that ZTE may unveil Quartz officially Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 trade fair this late February. In addition, the Chinese company has already printed many of the needed promotional materials for the said tech trade fair.
Moreover, LG is unveiling two smartwatches that will have Android Wear 2.0. Other tech companies are also expected to launch wearable devices powered by the new Google OS in the coming months.
