"Dark Souls" publisher Bandai Namco has a surprise for both long-time fans of the franchise and potential new fans. Coming in April, a comic book for "Dark Souls" will arrive care of Titan Comics.
The comics will showcase the franchise as a great additional promotion for the upcoming "Dark Souls 3," IGN reported. The comics will cover some angles in the franchise that go beyond what has already been seen in the "Dark Souls" games.
The artists behind it will be George Mann for the story and Alan Quah for the illustrations. To entice fans even more, issue one of "Dark Souls" comics will have five different covers, two of which are game covers, seen in the link above.
The hype train for "Dark Souls 3" continues. Publisher Bandai Namco has tweeted a call to preorder the game. Alongside the tweet, however, is a mention of the title as the Game of the Year 2016.
"Pre-order 'Dark Souls 3' and have the GOTY 2016 in your hands on day one," Bandai Namco US tweeted.
Fans can even check out a snapshot of the Collector's Edition of "Dark Souls 3." This includes the Collector's Box, the Prima Starter Guide, an Artbook, metal case, cloth game map, the official soundtrack and a 10-inch Red Knight statue, alongside a physical disc of the game.
This is not the first time that the title has been referenced as the Game of the Year for 2016. The official Twitter of Dark Souls has also been quoted to say that this is the only game that players will need for 2016, PlayStation Lifestyle reported. This is a pretty bold statement considering that it is just the start of 2016, but given the hype for the game, there is a big likelihood of it being one of the mroe well-received titles of the year.
There is still a long way to go before gamers get to try play "Dark Souls 3." It is set to release on April 12 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. For those who are looking to play "Dark Souls 3" before it hits retail, an event hosted by publication PC Gamer will run from March 5 to 6. During the weekend, "Dark Souls 3" is just one of the more recent titles playable for fans. Others include "Street Fighter V" and "Total War: Warhammer."
