A newly-designed Apple headquarters is expected to be opened this April. This was the dream project of the late Steve Jobs. The spaceship-like headquarters will be named as "Apple Park."
The new headquarters of Apple in Cupertino, California is similar to a spaceship because it is designed like a giant ring with 2.8 million square feet. The headquarter called as Apple Park is covered with a curved glass from the outside. It is expected to be opened in April, but construction will continue until summer. About 12,000 employees are expected to move into the new headquarter within six months
Apple Park is powered by solar panels on the rooftop which generates 17 megawatts. The building also has a natural ventilation system that will provide air-conditioning and heat for nine months.
The entire Apple Park covers 175-square acre. The roads are not made of asphalt. Instead, the path is dotted with 9,000 trees. The whole facility is designed for employees to use including the meadow, orchard, and pond. There is also a 100,000-square-foot gym in the facility.
And of course, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs will have a special place in the Apple Park as an amphitheater is named after him. The idea of a spaceship-like headquarters came from Steve Jobs. Therefore, this is a fulfillment of his dream project. Originally, the Apple Park was scheduled to be opened in 2015. However, the project was not yet complete back then.
The entrance of the Apple Park's amphitheater is made up of a metallic carbon-fiber roof, 165 in diameter, and 20 feet tall with 1,000 seats. It is still under construction. The place will be used when Apple is announcing new products.
