Google Play is offering a promotion with discounts up to 50 percent on in-app purchases for a list of Android games that are free to download including Jurassic World, Super Heroes, Mobile Strike, Pac-Man 256, and SimCity Buildit. The search giant's deal includes nearly 60 games including big mobile developers such as Electronic Arts, Bandai Namco, and TinyCo, and small studios.

All of the "freemium" games on the list are totally free and will not cost any money to install on an Android handset, according to Phone Arena. However, the in-app purchases give gamers the chance to unlock content such as extra lives and weapons.

Android phone owners can access a list of the games participating in the promo in Google Play's Apps & Games section. The promotion banner "Get Off to a Great Start" includes a source link, according to Techno Buffalo.

Google Play's 50 percent discount on in-app purchases can add up to big amount of money. For example, such purchases can cost up to $50 per item, so a savings of $25 for one game's in-app purchases could save people a small fortune.

Google has not provided any details about when the promo will end. Therefore, Android smartphone owners who want new mobile games or cheaper in-app content should learn more about the promotion now.

This year Google Play Games will also roll out some changes that will affect gamers and developers. The Android Developer Blog explains that the goal of the changes is to make it easier to sign in, and reduce permission requests for players.

Gamers with Google Play Games accounts will not have to upgrade to Google+. They will just have to sign in one time per account instead of one time per game.

In addition, users can sign in automatically. However, that can be changed in settings.

The Google Play Store was launched in October 2008 as Android Market. It is the official app store for the Android operating system, and offers various content including games, music, books, magazines, TV programs, and movies. The online store offered hardware devices until Google Store was launched in March 2015.
