Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Specs, Leaks, Release Date Rumors: Codename, Model Number and Key Features Revealed

The rumor mill has now started to reveal information on the speculated features that will be arriving on Galaxy Note 8.

When Samsung had discontinued in October 2016, Galaxy Note 7 after it started exploding because of its faulty batteries, the media reported that the company may kill its Note series of smartphones. However, in January, Samsung had said that Galaxy Note 8 would be coming with an innovative and safer battery which confirmed that the Note 7's phablet would release later this year.

Fresh information coming from Sam Mobile suggest that the Galaxy Note 8 is codenamed as "Great." Its unlocked international variant is expected to have a model number of SM-N950F. Depending on the market and carrier of different regions, the Note 8 variants would be having a different letter at the end of their model number, Pocket-Lint reported.

Recent rumors have revealed that Samsung may release refurbished models of Galaxy Note 7 in certain markets. As of this writing, there is no official confirmation from Samsung on the release of Note 7 refurbished models. It is expected to arrive with a model number of SM-N935F and is rumored to be called "Grace R" internally.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come with several improved features over the Galaxy Note 7. Apart from featuring a better and safer battery, it is expected to come with a 4K UHD display for better VR experience. Since it is expected to be powered by Exynos 9 series (Exynos 8895) chipset, it is speculated to come with a rear-facing dual camera.

Other speculated features include iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, UFS 2.1 storage, Bixby digital assistant and 6 GB of RAM. It is also expected to come with DeX mode that will allow users to connect the phablet to an external storage to experience full-fledged PC experience by connecting a mouse and a keyboard. It is expected to release in August this year.
