Do you know that when you prioritize sex after a long day of hard work, it can boost your energy the next day?
New research shows that you could give your work a boost if you prioritize sex when you get home from a stressful day. The research was conducted by a team from the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and the University of Washington.
Up to 159 employed married respondents took part in the study. They were required to fill up two brief surveys every day for two weeks. It was shown that married employees who make time for sex at home after a hard day have more positive moods the next day. Once back in the office, they are more engaged in their work and more satisfied with their job throughout the day.
Moreover, the researchers considered two usual predictors of daily mood; sleep quality and marital satisfaction. It was found that the mood boost lasts for more than 24 hours and it is equally true to both men and women, MSN reported.
One of the co-authors of the study Keith Leavitt said that it is a real thing although we usually make jokes about those who have springs in their steps.
If you have a healthy relationship with your better half, including a healthy sex life, you will become happy and engaged in your work. This will not only benefit you as an employee, but also the organization you are working for.
The researchers explained that the release of dopamine is triggered by sex. This neurotransmitter that encourages social bonding and attachment. It is also a natural mood elevator that can last up to the next day.
The study, which was published in the Journal of Management, highlighted that it is essential to make sex a priority since it has emotional, social, and physiological benefits.
