Tech giant Microsoft recently announced that it is striking up a partnership with online file hosting service Dropbox. The partnership is aimed towards giving users a top of the line cloud storage service as well as productivity tools.

In a statement acquired by Mobile Choice UK, Microsoft corporate vice president of developer platform and evangelism Steve Guggenheimer said, "Microsoft is excited to partner with Dropbox to bring more cloud storage and productivity services to Windows 10 across PC and tablets. With the arrival of Dropbox, Windows 10 fans have easy and convenient access to photos, documents, and files anytime, anywhere."

The new Dropbox app will take full advantage of Microsoft's universal Windows 10 platform which includes PC and tablets. A smartphone version of the app is already in the works and will be released soon.

According to The Verge, the most interesting feature of the new updated Dropbox app is the integration of Windows Hello support. Microsoft developed the Windows Hello support into the Windows 10 platform in order to allow users to securely log into their computer systems or devices using their face as an authentication option.

The feature requires a special camera in order to accurately detect a user's face. This feature, when integrated into Dropbox will allow users to completely secure their files using their face as authentication.

Windows Hello also supports other biometric methods like fingerprint. Compatible devices can user their fingerprint scanners in unlocking or securing their Dropbox files. For devices with iris scanners, they can also use it as Windows Hello also supports iris scans as part of its authentication protocols.

The new update will also allow users to quickly drag and drop files from Windows Explorer into the Dropbox app. The Quick search method was also integrated; a feature that reveals potential search results while users are typing search keywords.

A new feature that allows users to access their most recent files was also added. Users can take advantage of this feature by simply right-clicking on the Dropbox app icon located on the taskbar.

With the latest update, users can now directly add comments into their files. If they want to open a discussion with other users they can use the @mentions command.
