AT&T introduces a new unlimited plan for its contract-free GoPhone prepaid plan on March 10. For $65/month, users may avail of unlimited talk, text and access to internet. However critics of AT&T's latest offering find the data aspects a bit turn-off.

GoPhone prepaid plan's data is limited to a maximum speed of 3mps. This figure represents less than half of AT&T's average LTE speed of almost 8mbps says Life Hacker.

It appears to be worse for video streaming. Videos can only be played at a 480 pixels resolution and the maximum download speed is only 1.5mbps.

Critics even point out that the "unlimited" banner is a very big misnomer since it is slowing down any user's connection once the 22GB usage policy is exceeded. Any user of the GoPhone Unlimited Plan won't also be able to tether another device to his phone.

As a point of reference, previously, the AT&T GoPhone unlimited plan was $60/month and you'd get the first 8GB of data at LTE speeds before it slowed down. Now, the plan is closer in line to the contract AT&T unlimited plan introduced recently, but with a much slower speed cap.

According to Tech Times, the GoPhone prepaid unlimited data plan gives it users a chance to get a discount of $5 per month once they sign up with AutoPay making it from $65 to $60. AT&T also offers the users a $40 per month plan, which includes 6 GB of high speed data for a monthly cycle.

AT&T's GoPhone Unlimited plan will also be providing its users with unlimited calling and texting within and between the United States, Mexico and Canada. The GoPhone prepaid plan also comes with multi-line discounts which are ideal for family, friends and small businesses just like any other unlimited plans. Share us what you think, comment below.
