Android games "Bloons TD 5" and "Aralon: Sword and Shadow 3D RPG" together with "Zombie City Defense," "Secret Files Sam Peters," and "Survival Online GO" are now free for anyone to add to their Google Play account for a limited time. This is a result of Google finally permitting app publishers to discount their apps by 100 percent for a short period.
In the past, app publishers could not lower the price of paid apps on the Google Play Store to zero unless it was permanent. This was one of the major differences between Google's app store and Apple's.
Previously, publishers on Google's Play Store could not temporarily offer their games for free but, as of last month, they were allowed to do so. This has resulted in a number of apps becoming free in the past week. Aside from the current free app offers, there were limited-time free app deals the previous week.
They include "the Silver Bullet," "Demong Hunter," "Game Studio Tycoon," "Equalizer FX Pro," "Weather Live," "Etaria | Survival Adventure," "HorseWorld 3D: My Riding Horse," "Millimeter Pro Ruler on screen," "The Great Fusion," "VR Space: The Last Mission," "Linia," "Space STG II," and "Infinity Dungeon Evolution," which was the first reported app to become free temporarily. All of these apps are now back to their normal prices.
The website AppSales tracks price drops of apps on the Google Play Store. It is very simple to view not only the apps that have become free but also other apps that have dropped in price. When Google started allowing publishers to temporarily drop the price of their apps to free, AppSales updated its Android app to version 5.6 which now includes a Free tab that shows apps that have become free.
