The Pokemon Go Gen 2 update has been made available on the market for over a month, but non-legendary creatures Smeargle and Delibird remain missing in the game.
The massive Generation 2 update added 80 new creatures but Smeargle and Delibird are still nowhere to be found, leaving fans to speculate on when will they finally arrive.
Smeargle is the Pokemon which marks its boundaries with a paint-like liquid coming out from the tip of its tail. More commonly known as the painter pocket monster, Smeargle was introduced in the second-generation games Gold and Silver. Although it is often recognized from the Pokemon anime.
According to Tech.Mic, Smeargle is known for its signature move 'Sketch' which enables it to copy an attack move.
"If someone uses Tackle on Smeargle, for example, Smeargle can use Sketch to learn Tackle. The same goes for Hyper Beam or Hi Jump Kick or any attack except Struggle, Chatter or Shadow attacks," Tech.Mic stated.
Tech.Mic said that the absence of Smeargle could be due to uncertainty on how to integrate its signature move Sketch into Pokemon Go.
According to Anime Blog, Smeargle could be released for St. Patrick's Day simply because its most iconic form is seen with a green tail.
Delibird, meanwhile, is the Pokemon who carries its food bundled up in its tail that it willingly shares with anyone and who bears gifts. According to Tech.Mic, Delibird or 'Delivery Bird' is essentially the Santa Claus of the Pokemon world. It was officially classified by the Pokedex as the 'Delivery Pokemon.'
Because of its gift-giving nature, the most prominent rumor as to when Delibird will arrive is in the holiday season, according to Tech.Mic. The creature's red and white colors could be a clue too.
Other rare generation 2 Pokemon that remain missing in the Pokemon Go game are Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Celebi.
