Microsoft Surface 4 release date will reportedly happen in March as the 128GB Surface 3 is still on sale.

A year after Microsoft introduced the Surface 3 tablet, the tech company seems to be launching the device's next generation of the device as there has never been a week without the Surface 3 discount.

This week, Microsoft offers the 128GB version of the Surface 3 tablet for $499 or $100 off its original price. Interestingly, the 128GB/4GB/Wi-Fi version costs the same as the 64GB version, while Surface 3 LTE version now costs $599 on discount. Discounts on the original price is an indication that the successor of the device is coming soon.

Microsoft Surface 3 is a very capable device as it runs with Windows 10 OS with all the Win32 apps and one-year of Office 365 Personal. The tablet is powered by Intel Cherry Tree Atom processor and 4GB of RAM.

The Surface 3 LTE boasts a 10.8-inch 1920 x 1280 pixel display, Intel Atom processor and 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. The tablet was available in WiFi version only since its release. Other features of the device are: 8-megapixel rear camera; a 3.5-megapixel front camera; a full-size USB 3.0 port; a mini-DisplayPort; a micro-USB 2.0 slot; and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. While the Surface 3 is very similar to the higher end Surface Pro 3, it is quite smaller in size and less powerful.

There are speculations that the unannounced Surface 4 tablet will have similar specs and features with the Surface Pro 3, which will turn two years old this year. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is teh company's flagship that tried breaking in the laptop-tablet market was extremely successful. The tablet garnered recognition from critics and reviewers. The device was also awarded with best tablet award at the Mobile World Congress in March 2015. The award boosted the sales of the Surface Pro 3.
