There is little doubt that with the imminent Galaxy S7 release date, Samsung will attempt, yet again, to finally end Apple's domination of the smartphone market. Reports said that the South Korean tech giant's latest thrust will involve copying three things that were seen first when the iPhone 6S rolled out October of 2016.
First on the list is 3D Touch that allowed iPhone users to have quick access on application features when pressing app icons in certain ways. Rumors says Samsung's rendering of Android 6.0 Marshmallow plus the inclusion of new touchscreen feature will effectively bring the same 3D Touch functionalities to the Galaxy S7.
Then a version of Live Photos is said to be part as well of the S7 unboxing this March or April. The feature renders captured images in GIF-like behavior and Samsung assumes that giving its first 2016 flagship the same capability will draw in hordes of smartphone buyers, and possibly switchers from the iPhone side.
And to ensure that phone buyers this year will seriously consider buying the Galaxy S7, Samsung is making it easy for them to do so by implementing a scheme that is quite similar with Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program. The system is straightforward - Galaxy S7 buyers will only need to surrender the Galaxy S6 they bought last year and pay up in installment basis. The cycle will be repeated by the time the Galaxy S8 is pushed out in 2017 with the assurance that subscribers of the program will fork out the same monthly fee that they secured with the S7 purchase.
However, the GS7 upgrade program looks to launch first in Samsung's home base, South Korea that is, though BGR said in a report that select markets like the United States could follow soon. The report pointed to a recent story by Korean news ETNews as source.
And if indeed U.S. buyers will soon benefit from such sweet offer coming from Samsung, they should take note that a Galaxy S7 version with Snapdragon 820 chip baked in is definitely coming to American shores. Rumors say that the S7 will become available powered by Exynos 8890 and SD 820 but it is the latter build that seems to inspire loads of curiosity.
In a new report, G4Games said that a Galaxy S7 with model number SM-G930A is hitting the U.S. market in the coming months equipped with SD 820 and 4GB of RAM. The device is claimed to have registered monster scores on the latest Geekbench testing with AT&T subscribers having a first crack on the handset.
This Galaxy S7 will supposedly come out soon after Samsung's unpacking of the device that reports said will coincide with the 2016 Barcelona MWC next month or February. The event should pave the way for the worldwide Galaxy S7 release date in March.
