A new patent that has been granted to Microsoft that suggests that upcoming Surface Phone may come with a foldable screen.
Recently, a patent with the name "Display Device" was granted to Microsoft Technology Licensing with patent number US2017/0086308 A1. It was invented by Timothy Andrew Large and Steven Bathitche, Phone Arena reported. The patent images suggest that the device looks like a tablet and it can be folded in the middle, WCCF Tech reported.
There is no confirmation that the new patent is the design of the Surface Phone. However, since the alleged Surface Phone is one of the most awaited tech products, it is likely that it may arrive with a foldable screen that can be bended in the middle. As of this writing, the rumor mill is silent on the specifications of the Surface Phone, but the past rumors have revealed few information on its upcoming features.
The rumored Surface Phone is expected to be driven by Intel processor and it may support apps that are made for desktop version of Windows 10 OS. Continuum is speculated to be one of the major attractions of the Surface Phone. The feature has been already introduced on Lumia 950 and 950 XL flagship phones from 2015. Through Continuum, users can enjoy full-blown PC experience by connecting the phone to an external display, mouse and keyboard by using a dock.
Since 2015, Microsoft has not released a Windows 10 Mobile powered phone. The Redmond giant has allegedly axed Lumia line of phones and it is pegged to make a comeback in the smartphone market with the alleged Surface Phone. The Surface line of products like Surface Pro 2-in-1, Surface Book, and Surface Studio are quite famous. Hence, rumors have been claiming that Microsoft will launch a Surface branded smartphone. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has hinted that the Surface Phone would be able to deliver ultimate mobile experience.
