Elon Musk is all set to introduce a new car in the market with the affordable $35,000 Tesla Mode 3 electric car is on its way. According to the stats, this five-seater car will be as fast as BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C class. Interestingly, it will also cost around same as the BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
According to Tesla CEO Musk, the company plans to produce its cars on time and outsell brands like that of Benz and BMW as well. As part of this plan, Tesla is making sure that it ramps up production and makes speedy deliveries toTesla took about 400,000 pre-orders for the car quickly after it was unveiled and the company has been ramping up its production to meet this demand. As for the initial plans, Tesla is looking to provide 1000 cars per week in July, 2000 cars per week in August, and 4000 cars in a week in September. With this production level, Tesla will surely achieve the target of 400,000.
Musk has reiterated that Tesla can build 500,000 total vehicles by next year. Tesla Model S and Model X growth would continue, however, at a slowing rate. Also, the dual motor all-wheel drive and high-performance models of the Model 3 will be delayed for six to nine months to keep the rollout simple.
If the Model 3 dominates the market in the same way as the Model S, then Tesla can expect 170,000 sales in the US a year. If we add international orders to that, Tesla would need to produce up to 500,000 cars. This kind of production will clearly give an upper hand to Tesla in the market.
Certainly, the company isn't known for sticking with precedents, and that's surely the case with the Model 3 launch, as it's doing things like jumping ahead in the prototyping process by skipping out on the "beta" and moving to what Elon Musk calls a "release candidate."
