The deca-core Helio X20 chipset of MediaTek has given an impressive result in its Geekbench tests. The benchmarks were run on an HTC phone, and the results provided the public an idea of what the deca-core chipset can offer.
According to the benchmarking results leaked over Chinese websites, Helio X20 performs much better than Exynos 7420 chipset in Samsung mobiles. The chipset was tested on an HTC device dubbed earlier as alps mt6797. In Dec. 23, 2015, Helio X20 was subjected to benchmark testing more than 10 times, and each time, the results were consistent giving a positive response. This upcoming chipset from MediaTek scored 70,000 points, while Galaxy Note 5 was only able to manage a score of 69,700 points in the benchmarking test, WCCF Tech reported.
The earlier benchmarks are derived from development phones that need to be optimized to an extent so that one can be easily aware about the chip's entire ability.
MediaTek Helio X20 gained the highest points in multi cores section. It obtained a total of 7,037 points, while all other best-selling core in market like Kirin 950, Snapdragon 820, and Apple A9 recorded a benchmark score of 6245, 5400 and 4575 respectively.
Phone Arena quoted that the chipset was revealed earlier in May 2015, but did not receive much attention. But recentl,y Helio X20 has emerged as the only mobile chipset with a deca-core, constituting of two Cortex A72 cores and four Cortex A53 cores. They are clocked at 2.0 GHz. The remaining four cores are also Cortex A53 but clocked at 1.4 GHz.
MediaTek spokesperson also revealed that the Helio X20 chipset will be mass produced during the second quarter of this year, and the Umi Zero 2 is going to be the first Smartphone to be launched with a Helio X20 chipset, Fudzilla reported.
Other Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and Meizu are also expected to buy this chipset.
