A bezel-less smartphone with an Android OS is to be expected from Andy Rubin's newly founded company. Essential's upcoming device will sport a large edge-to-edge screen based on the latest tease.
Without spilling the specifics, Google's co-founder, Rubin, shared via Twitter the first look at his new company's latest project. With an enigmatic image posted online, Rubin captioned his post saying that he is "excited about how this is shaping up. Eager to get it in more people's hands."
With the latest update from the Essential, it seems like the upcoming device is bezel will be sure hit in the market. Now that bezel-less is quickly becoming a trend, Essential's upcoming smartphone could be a game changer in the industry.
Although lacking of any confirmation, it has been assumed that the upcoming Essential smartphone will be running an Android OS as mentioned by Gagets360. Apart from the mobile operating system and based on the released image tease, the smartphone will feature a cut-out on top for a speaker.
Still basing on the social media post, the power button will likely be the same with the current typical smartphone. It is assumed that the button seen in the photo will serve as the power button, if not a multimedia function.
As of now, it is still difficult to confirm further details of the device, on whether it would be purely bezel-less or whether a keypad will be installed similar to that of BlackBerry KEYone. However, there is also a great possibility that Essential's upcoming smartphone will sport similar features to that of the recently launched Xiaomi Mi MIX phone.
In retrospect, Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix device with a 6.40-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen display, having a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2040 pixels at a PPI of 362 pixels per inch. Compared to its contemporaries such device became attractive because of its unique bezel-less display.
