Microsoft will reportedly introduce its next-generation Xbox gaming console way ahead of E3 2017. If the rumors are correct, Xbox Scorpio codenamed Project Scorpio will be unveiled before Saturday next week, and the immediate release date will likely follow.
An exclusive report from Windows Central claimed that Microsoft has given the green light for the Xbox Scorpio revelation this April or ahead of the gaming console's expected public debut via the E3 2017, which kicks off June 13. The new Xbox intro will be course through an unnamed major gaming outlet, which the same report was given an advanced access on the final build, design and specifications of Xbox Scorpio.
In terms of design, Xbox Scorpio is said to unbox boasting of significantly trimmed down footprint with the report claiming that the console's compact build was achieved thanks to better cooling engineering. In addition, the gaming machine will include an internal power supply unit that will allow Microsoft to ditch the power brick that came with the older models.
Windows Central reported too that Xbox Scorpio will not only out-spec the Xbox One but also Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro. The hardware refresh will not make use of the ESRAM found on the Xbox One, instead the Scorpio will use 12GB of GDRR5 memory chip.
The Xbox Scorpio is also touted to outmuscle the competition in GPU showdown. The report said the console graphics will run at 6teraflops (TF), easily overwhelming the PS4 Pro's 4.2TF GPU muscle. In one test cited by Windows Central on its report, Scorpio purportedly showed off the power it packs by rendering Forza Motorsport 7 in 4K resolution.
"If our information is to be believed, it (Project Scorpio game GPU rendering) will look truly stunning," the report said.
In a related report, WCCFTech said that while the Project Scorpio claims put forward by Windows Central can be safely labeled as rumors for now it has to be considered that the online publication "is perhaps the biggest Microsoft-focused website and it proved its credibility over the last few years."
It might be the juicy details on the Xbox Scorpio would be known as early as next week but the actual release date is more likely to happen following the E3 2017, which will run from June 13th to 15th in Los Angeles, California.
