The latest details for "The Last of Us 2" will feature a "Westworld" star joining the sequel and a 2019 release date in the PlayStation 4.
Several rumors are making rounds regarding a possible release date for "The Last of Us 2" in the PS4 console as gaming fans theorized that the sequel could launch sometime in 2019.
Although, Naughty Dog has not yet made a statement regarding the claim, there have been hints that "The Last of Us 2's" production could start after completing “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.” The game developer will be launching the sequel exclusively on PS4 console and since the production has not started yet, the chances of an early release of the game are very less, MobiPicker reported.
Meanwhile, "Westworld" HBO series star Shannon Woodward will be joining the cast of "The Last of Us 2" as she voices a character in the game.
Woodward made the announcement herself as she tweeted a photo wearing a mocap suit along with "The Last of Us 2" director Neil Druckmann. While the details of her role or character is yet to be determined, it seems that gaming fans will be curious to know what her role is on the sequel.
The original "The Last of Us" game well-written, complex characters that served both as allies to Joel and Ellie as well as antagonists, and so expectations are high for the sequel, Gamerant reported.
There have been several speculations and theories regarding the plot of "The Last of Us 2" as the sequel will be much darker than the first game. Many believed that Ellie is on a path of vengeance, while Joel is believed to have died prior to the sequel's plot.
Ellie is also theorized to be pregnant in "The Last of Us 2." while others speculated that she is also responsible for killing Joel as a measure of revenge against him for killing Marlene.
Whatever the plans Naughty Dog has on "The Last of Us 2's" plot, it will likely excite gaming fans and there might be new game details being showcased at E3 2017 soon.
There is no release date yet for "The Last of Us 2" on the PlayStation 4.
