Intel will reportedly announce its X299 HEDT platform ahead of schedule. Originally, the X299 platform that supposedly is codenamed "Basin Falls" with LGA 2066 socket is set to be revealed August this year but a new report claimed the launch could happen as early as June via the Computex 2017.

Picking up on the leaked information provided by Benchlife.info, WCCFTech reported that from the Gamescom event in August Intel is likely to advance the introduction of the Basin Falls platform on either late May or early June 2017. As the Computex edition this year will run from May 31 to June 3, it's highly likely that Intel will use the occasion to launch the HEDT platform.

It's unclear though if the product intro will be followed by an immediate release. But it's clear that Intel's HEDT platform will give birth to three Skylake-X and one Kaby Lake-X processors. The latter will come in 4-core model while the former will be released in 10-core, 8-core and 6-core models.

WCCFTech said the chips will retail as configurations of the Core i7-7000 CPU in LGA 2066 socket with assurance of immediate motherboard support from a number of manufacturers. The Skylake-X models will have a TDP rating of 140W while the Kaby Lake-X will be rated at 112W.

Of the two chip architectures, it is the Kaby Lake-X that will prove the more powerful and efficient thanks to the process optimizations applied on the processors. The chip will boast of "better clock speeds with reduced power consumption, adding to the efficiency," the report said.

Why Intel is advancing the X299 HEDT platform debut was not discussed in the same report but WCCFTech took note that both Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X were slated for mass production in the second quarter of 2017, which is line with the suggested Computex 2017 intro.

However, no pricing details and actual release date for the Basin Falls platform were provided in the report.
