Is there a need for the Galaxy Note 8 since Samsung has already the supersized Galaxy S8 Plus that boasts of a 6.2-inch display? If one is fan of the S Pen stylus that came with the original phablet then the Note 8 is an upgrade hard to resist.
In a leaked image that according to Slash Gear was posted on Weibo and picked up by /Leaks, the Galaxy Note 8 was shown bearing the spitting image of the GS8+. But resting beside the upcoming jumbo phone is the input instrument that Samsung called as S Pen. Where the device will be holstered when not in use was not shown as the picture only represented the Note 8's front panel.
Slash Gear said the chance is high that the leak is a hoax. "It seems likely that this is a Galaxy S8+ someone placed next to an S-Pen from a previous Note," the report said taking note of the fact that the image was first posted on China's largest microblogging site at the start of the month.
The leaked Note 8 is possibly a prank for April Fools' that went unnoticed for days, the report warned, adding that the pictured device is far from the usual prototypes seen in similar leaked detail. The Note 8 in the pic appears ready for public use, which seems unlikely at this point.
But setting aside this latest leaked Note 8 image, the device is certainly coming out later this 2017 with Samsung already giving its confirmation. In fact, the latest reports from South Korea indicated that the Asian tech giant has green lighted for the Galaxy Note 8 project to commence.
The start of the Note 8 development is ahead of schedule, according to the same report but there was no mention if the sequel to the Galaxy Note 7 will be released earlier than usual or ahead of the expected September rollout of the device.
While the release schedule is yet to be finalized, rumors say the Note 8 will have a screen that is slightly bigger than the Galaxy S8 Plus. If the latter has a 6.2-inch display, the Galaxy Note 8 when unpacked will have a supersized screen that scream at 6.32-inch.
