Apart from being tech innovators, both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs have a similar parenting rule concerning technology. The two tech moguls have restricted the use of technology among their children at a certain place, time, and age.
For those who are still unaware, there are strict guidelines concerning the use of tech devices in the houses of both billionaires, despite owing their fortune from their technology. Gates restricts his kids from owning a smartphone until they reach the age of 14, while Jobs did not let his children use an iPad.
Gates' children are also not allowed to use cellphones at the table.
"We don't have cellphones at the table when we are having a meal, we didn't give our kids cellphones until they were 14 and they complained other kids got them earlier. We often set a time after which there is no screen time and in their case that helps them get to sleep at a reasonable hour," The Express Tribune quoted Microsoft founder saying.
During an interview, Jobs revealed that he limits how much technology his kids use at their home. While sharing a meal no one from his family makes use of an iPad or computer, he said.
"Every evening Steve made a point of having dinner at the big long table in their kitchen, discussing books and history and a variety of things. No one ever pulled out an iPad or a computer. The kids did not seem addicted at all to devices," Independent quoted biographer and author Walter Isaacson saying.
